Every week I set out to share something useful from my photography process, something that will make you feel like we’re all chipping away at this thing we love together. This week’s good intentions had to take back seat to a fairly big change in the lives of my wife and me - even if that big change has some little legs. Everyone, I’d like you to meet our new dog, Hoya.
Hoya (호야) is a rescue from all the way over on the east coast. He’s been living on the lam and it seems he was abandoned - he has the knotted fur and concertina ribs to prove it. He’s taken one or two punches in his career, but he’s a born champ and has already been responding really well to being in a stable environment. With our focus shifted to helping the little guy settle in, I haven’t been able to write anything up to scratch this week about my photo process. I hope everyone’s OK with waiting until next Sunday.
The only other news to share is the results from last week’s poll. In case you missed it, here’s what I asked:
Shall I ask other photographers & artists to write once off 'Guest Newsletters™️'?
With only 7% of respondents correctly identifying the attempt to pawn off my Substack work, a convincing 93% of you encouraged me to reach out to other artists and photographers and offer my newsletter as an occasional platform for their work and insights. So, in the next month or two, you can expect the first of these Guest Newsletters to drop. I’ve already got one confirmed participant in this experiment, but I’d like to get one or two more lined up before I start sharing.
Before I go I just want to show some gratitude. Thank you to everyone who has been following along with my efforts here on Substack. (To the precious few of you who’ve become paid supporters, I continue to be humbled and buoyed by your kindness. Thank you.) I’ve received some truly thoughtful insight, lovely comments and experienced the kind of effort to communicate here that I suspected this channel was particularly well designed to encourage. I appreciate the time you’ve spent following my work from my little corner of the world in South Korea, and I’m as motivated as ever to make photos, make videos, and to write about them here with you.
Thank you for the time and attention 💛
Cheers,
Chris ✌️
The absolute best!
