One of the things I like about shooting live music is that the size of the stage doesn’t matter. If the artist is a true performer, their energy will translate whether they’re playing for a hundred people or a thousand. This means that every show I get to cover, even the small ones, offers the chance to share in that energy, and to try and translate it into photographs.
Here are some images from two shows, one in an auditorium with all the bells, whistles and synchronized lighting you could ask for, and one in a small club up the road, glowing angrily under a single set of ruby globes.
